NH School Funding Fairness Project (NHSFFP)

Friends:

As you may know, the NH School Funding Fairness Project (NHSFFP) is planning to host a set of regional public forums later this month and into early October.  The forums will seek to foster a greater understanding of the way in which public schools are funded in New Hampshire, as well as a dialogue among concerned citizens and their prospective elected officials on this vitally important topic.

Accordingly, I write today to ask that you please consider sharing information about the forums with your members and supporters; their active involvement will help to ensure not only that the forums are a rousing success, but that future policymakers recognize how critical fair school funding is to students, educators, families, and communities throughout the Granite State.

Each forum will be held remotely via Zoom Webinar and will take place in the evening from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.  The dates and corresponding region for each forum are as follows:

September 29                                               Rockingham County

September 30                                               Carroll, Coos, and Grafton Counties

October 1                                                      Hillsborough County

October 6                                                      Belknap, Merrimack, and Strafford Counties

October 8                                                      Cheshire and Sullivan Counties

Anyone who would like to attend may do so by registering in advance via the Events page of the NHSFFP website:  www.fairfundingnh.org/events.

Each forum will feature an introductory overview by NHSFFP of New Hampshire’s current school funding system and its shortcomings, followed by a short panel discussion among invited local residents, who will share their own perspectives on education funding.  Candidates for the New Hampshire House of Representatives, Senate, and Executive Council will each be afforded an opportunity to offer brief remarks about education funding before the forum is opened to members of the public to express their views and to pose questions to the candidates.  (NHSFFP has directly invited every candidate for the House, Senate, and EC to the forums and is in the process of reaching out to Republican and Democratic county chairs as well.)

If you should have any questions about the forums, please don’t hesitate to contact me at either jmclynch@fairfundingnh.org or 603-945-9988.

Thank you for your time and for any assistance you may be willing to provide in promoting these forums.

Jeff
