Groveton Elementary School's 3/4 coed team brought home 2nd place in the Colonel Town Tournament last weekend. Congrats to all players and coaches. Keep SOARING!
Ms. Lacasse's third grade students were drawing advertisements for "Frobscottle" yesterday! "Frobscottle" is an imaginary drink from the novel, the BFG by Roald Dahl. Students had to listen to the description of the drink, and use that in their advertisements, as well as use adjectives and make people want to buy the drink!
Mrs. Lambert's Kindergartners got to go to the fire station this past Wednesday for fire safety week! They have been spending time in the classroom learning about fire safety, reading nonfiction texts, learning fire vocabulary, and making crafts! They got to experience this first hand at the fire station and came back with some goodies! Thank you to the Groveton Fire Department!
How do we want to start a Monday? We love spreading some kindness around, just like these three students who demonstrated a distinguishable amount of kindness towards others last week. Did you know that kindness is contagious? Well, it is! We challenge you to test this and find out for yourself ! Professional development and on going training is essential to maintain and support high quality instruction! Several SAU 58 Staff have spent the last two days at the 2023 ATMNE (Association of Teachers of Mathematics in New England) Conference in Portland, Maine. They have been learning about many different topics to include math identities, productive struggle, successes, and much, much more.

Mrs. Ladd’s 5th graders have been having a blast playing trash-ball. They are collecting data so that they can use the information they collect to make a variety of graphs, such as bar graphs, pie charts, pictographs, point and line graphs and stem and leaf. They will also be using the information to build player profiles to figure out the best trash-ball player in the country.
Ms. Lacasse's 3rd grade students had participated in a math scavenger hunt. Students were given 10 different lengths to find around the room and they worked with a partner to find objects that matched the measurements. They ranged from 9cm to 203cm! This is an example of experiential learning, where students engage with their environment in real life scenarios in which they can a deeper depth of knowledge. Students are then able to demonstrate the competency of a skill over time in a variety of ways!
